Who Must Complete the SAG Affidavit Chile?

The customs form is a mandatory requirement for all travelers over 18 years old, regardless of nationality. All passengers entering Chile by air, sea, or land need to complete it. This includes:

  • Tourists
  • Business visitors
  • Residents returning to Chile
  • Transit travelers who leave the international transit area

If you are making a layover in Chile on your way to another destination, you are not required to complete the declaration as long as you remain exclusively within the airport’s international transit area.

If you pass through customs and formally enter the country, you must submit the Chile Customs Affidavit.

Requirements to Complete the Chile Entry Affidavit

To submit your declaration, you must meet the following requirements:

Affidavit Application

Important: You must present your declaration to a SAG officer on arrival in Chile. Your luggage may be inspected to verify any declared items. The inspection process may include manual inspection by an agent, X-ray scanning, and/or review by the SAG Canine Brigade.

What Do I Have To Declare When Entering Chile?

If you are unsure which items or products must be declared, consult the following list provided by SAG authorities:

Plant products

  • All types of plant propagation material: live plants, plant parts
  • All types of grains and seeds, for either consumption or planting
  • Spices, herbs, and plant-based seasonings
  • Flowers and floral arrangements

  • Conifer cones
  • Biological material (live insects, spores, etc.)
  • Other plant-origin products (packaged or unpackaged)
  • Pesticides and fertilizers

Animal products

  • Live animals (birds, bees, and pets, among others
  • Meat or meat products (ham, sausages, etc.)
  • Milk and dairy products (cheese, yogurt, etc.)
  • Apiculture products (honey, royal jelly, propolis, etc.)
  • Veterinary medicines
  • Semen and embryos
  • Animal feed
  • Products of part or complete animal origin
  • Personal food items containing livestock-derived products
  • Decorative items and handicrafts of animal origin (antlers, horns, hooves, etc.)
  • Hunting trophies and museum specimens
  • Insect collections

After inspection, the customs inspector will determine the appropriate action for each product. If it complies with the regulations, you’ll be allowed to bring it into the country. If it doesn't, it may be confiscated and destroyed.

What Documents Do I Need to Travel to Chile?

In addition to the Chile Customs Affidavit, you’ll need the following documentation to enter the country:

    Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to obtain a visa before entering Chile. This must be processed through Chilean consular offices.

Important: The permitted period of stay for tourists is usually 90 days. Final admission is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry.

If you’re traveling to Chile, your luggage may be inspected by the Agricultural and Livestock Service. As part of the process, you’ll need to submit the SAG Affidavit. Other inspection methods include:
